I just finished reading articles on the tvpredictions blog, and see that Directv will have a total of between 70 and
100 Hdtv channels by the end of September, including the Fox News Channel. What is Dish going to do to keep us a subscribers. I am having serious doubts about remaining a subscriber. I have currently had Dish hdtv for 3 years now, and like a lot of the content, however it seems that Directv is blowing them away with over 150 predicted channels in 2008. I currently have the Platinum package, and feel maybe the money I am spending could be better served with Directv. Charlie Chat hasn't given us much..

Well, the fact is D* for the past couple of months have been all talk and no action. Meanwhile E* has been continually adding some great HD channels. I don't think there's any point in switching over to D* because after they launch their 100 channels, E* will eventually launch the same channels once they have more bandwidth.

Dish has been closed mouthed for several years now as to what they are and are not adding. It just seems that Dish is keeping quiet while still adding a lot of the channels Direct has promised but has not yet added. Direct is trying to talk people into switching to them before the channels are even available. I would stay with Dish because I feel actions speak louder than words. Should Direct actually have those channels available and Dish not adding anything, then I would switch.

I agree with all the other comments so far. Dish has the most HD now and continues to add channels and pursue other channels as they become available. Nothing wrong with wait and see.

Hi all, yea I been with Dish for a few years now; and yes they been adding channels with out me knowing. I have the HD gold and they just keep on addin. Just counted it about 55 channels for my area or maybe 48 channels not including the local HD locals. Not planning to switch any time soon. And boy they look pretty

I have E* and there HD and I still don't include the odd ball HD channels that can from that all HD service, such as the fashion HD channel and the Video Game HD channel. I never watch them yet I have to pay $20 for the "Most HD anywhere". Sometime's I wish that they had a couple of teirs of HD, like a sports teir or a movie teir and simply charge like $5 a teir. I know I sound like a cry baby its just frustrating sometimes and today is one of those times.

I had been a loyal customer of the Dishnetwork for 9 years. This week I made the switch to Verizon FIOS and I couldn't be happier. First of all The cost I was paying for the dish (one High def television and two standard) and with the locals and HBO movie package was no longer cheap. My total dish costs was $115. per month. with my new FIOS service I have the same set up but instead of a few HBO channels I have 45 movie channels (Starz, showtime, encore) for a cost of 45% cheaper.
