I'm a current Charter customer, and I just bought a a TivoHD (Lite) a few days ago (was able to get it on sale and use a coupon, so it was a good deal). While trying to decide whether or not to keep it and pay the Tivo subscription (which means I'm stuck with Charter), I wanted to look at my other options.
So, I started looking at Dish, and noticed that some changes are coming tomorrow (August 15th), so I have a decision to make. If I want to go with Dish, should I do it today, or wait until tomorrow (or after)? I was told that the current $200 HD promo ends today, and that the new promo will only be for 6 months instead of 10. BUT, would I get the Vip722 instead of the Vip622 if I waited until tomorrow? If so, is it worth waiting (and having a smaller rebate, if the info is true)? Are the only differences really the HD size and the color (black vs. silver)? Does anyone have any other reasons for waiting (or doing it today)? TIA. I searched, but didn't see similar posts. Edit: ok, looks like the ViP722 also supports HD VOD, which I guess the 622 does not. Anyway... Last edited by ToHellWithUGA; 08-14-2007 at 03:49 PM. |

I believe you, but would you happen to have a link? I'm apparently search disabled today.

I switched from Charter to Dish earlier this morning and I got all the promotional discounts, etc., AND a ViP-722. My install is scheduled for Friday, August 17th. I too was going to wait until tomorrow, but I called Dish and asked if I ordered today, could I get a 722? The guy said "Yes, absolutely." He even gave me his direct phone number in case the installer showed up with a 622. Couldn't ask for better.
I got my Dish Network Sales Confirmation shortly after I placed the order and it lists a ViP-722 under Equipment. I also decided to go with the Dish 1000.2 and a Dish 500. I talked to my neighbors about this a few days ago because they have two dishes on their house. They were getting really poor PQ and poor hi-def signals on 129. After they had a second dish installed, everything is now perfect. However, the "proof is in the pudding" so to speak. I'll reserve final judgment until I see what actually happens on Friday. |

Yeah, so I was just told over chat that I could order today and then call and change my equipment to the 722 for free before installation. I'm not sure if that applies to Dish affiliates/resellers (whatever they're called) or just dishnetwork dot com (does Dish send the equipment out, or the resellers?).
Edit: Lol, I have 35 minutes... can't find any resellers still open other than the main dish site to ask |

Call Dish. I got the runaround with Live Chat. Was told that they didn't know when the 722 would be available. I also called a couple of resellers in my area and none of them had the 722. But when I called Dish, the guy knew exactly when the 722 was going to be released and guaranteed I would get one. For what it's worth.

Well, I ordered last night at the last second from an affiliate - hopefully they will let me change the hardware, and I don't have any problems with the rebates, etc.
Looks like the new offer is indeed just 6 months, so as far as that goes, I'm glad I ordered. Just gotta make sure I get that 722 now... |

I guess I am going ahead with the installation, scheduled for Monday. I probably should've ordered through the Dish website, though, since it seems that my order date shows the 15th not the 14th
Is there anything else I should know before installation? They said they would install the 1000 dish, is that the right thing to do in my area (30043)? |
