Please note that DISH only carries HBO-HD and Showtime-HD. They do not have an agreement in place to carry Starz-HD or Cinemax-HD.

But since my parents can now view all of the HBO package minus the high def channel on their analog TV in the living room (my TV is in my bedroom), they don't like it because of the unedited content of the movies (they had only the America's Top 60 previously where every movie has been edited for content, more family oriented). So I might see if I can cancel (for a $5 fee) all of HBO except for the high def channel, plus see if I can order only the high def channels from Starz, Showtime, and Cinamax since each of these packages have one high def channel included. I am only interested in the high def channels of these packages because after seeing TV in high def, I just can't be satisfied with SD anymore.
You ABSOLUTELY DO qualify for $5 off the HD pkg for the 1st 12months! I was told that initially in Dec., then told no, then on Jan. "Charlie Chat" they said that EXISTING customers that upgraded to HD would get $5 off @ mo. for 1 yr. Called back AGAIN & was told NO AGAIN. I told them I had it recorded it from the chat after which they apoligized & said they found the promotion & I would get it!! CALL 'em--YOU DO QUALIFY! Note that it's not the 1st 6 mos. free but $5 off for the 1st 12 mos--still comes out the same.

Default we all pay for tech support anyway

after 20+ years in the network tv production game, while the cable and sat folks were making the real money. . . I now know that our last revenge is to get the tech support we need. so call dish or direct or voom or pbs or the nets. demand better. content is king. and good luck.

When changing channels from one high def. channel to the next, I see the sd normal box highlighted. Shouldn't the hd normal box be highlighted? Any info will help. Thanks

It used to say "HD Normal", then one day it changed. I believe they (DISH) uploaded a patch to correct a problem on the 811's and when they did, for some reason it switched it over to the "SD Normal" box. It doesn't have any effect whatsoever on what you are watching, though.

Thanks for the info.
I noticed when I change the inputs with the tv remote and I get to the HD input it shows on the screen 16:9 1080. I guess I'll ignore the sd normal on the program banner.
