Default 211 With Caller ID Makes My Phone Line Disconect

I have a phone line connected from my wall to my other 211...my phone service became out of order yesterday.
Phone guy came in today and said the receiver was making our phone line go whacky and that he had never seen anything so bizarre in his life before. He also said if the problem happens again to unplug the phone line out of the wall and then replug it.

Make sure line is plugged into RJ-11 phone jack in back of receiver and not an RJ-45 Cat-5 jack (if so equipped).

Unless you order lots of PPV material, dont connect the phone line to the 211. DISH does not require a phone line to be connected to the single tuner receivers. Dual tuner receivers are required to have the phone line connected or you will incur a $5 monthly charge. I used to have a 211 before upgrading to the 622. When I hooked up the 211 to the phone, it was like taking the phone off the hook. Yes the caller ID on the screen is cool, but not that cool.
