Default Fresno locals in HD

I'm reading certain posts about more and more areas getting their locals in HD. I see Sacramento now has their locals in HD. Anybody know anything about Fresno locals? Is there an updated list anywhere about timeframes for when certain markets will have their locals in HD? I've been putting off trying to install an OTA to bring in the Fresno locals because I've been hoping they will be coming in through the dish in HD soon. With football season right around the corner, I might have to bite the bullet in August and git R done!!

I think us folks in the central valley have still a ways to go. It was the same with the availability of locals on Dish the first time around.
But eventually we got them. I have not seen any plans from Dish that mention Fresno for HD locals (yet).

I would not hold my breath. Be happy you can get them OTA (hopefully you can). But there is a lot more convenience having them through Dish.

Those of you that are also in the central valley, if any of you bring in the locals through an OTA are you having good luck getting a lot of HD content from the Fresno stations, such as primetime shows, sports, etc. from all the different networks???

As much as anybody else in the country, near as I can tell.
Sometimes a station my go off digital even during primetime. Likely a technical problem. Does not happen often.

Mind telling me how you did the waiver bit? Was not aware of it..
I get all those, including 30.1, but it is the one I have had the most difficulty with.

What kind/brand of OTA antennas are you guys using?? I'm 60 miles southeast of Fresno but I think I should be able to bring those digital channels in strong enough if I have the right antenna. I also have a pretty tall 2-story house that I can mount in on.

I am in East Clovis..only using an indoor (actually 2 back to back) I never have to adjust except occasionally for 30.1.
I am only 23 mi from the xmtrs and not even a cow in the path.

But you are right, about getting a 'better' antenna. That's why I don't understand how throwback559 could get a waiver for one channel.
I must get about 12 if you count all the x.2, .3, etc. signals I receive too. But 18.2 24.1, 26.1, 47.1, and 30.1 all come in great.

Im in Lindsay, Tulare County I have the OTA from D*

I called asked about local HD's and he was telling me about OTA I told them I have one and the Channel I am having trouble with was ABC HD (30.1) And that I really needed it for the SUPER BOWL he said their was no locals in HD yet and I asked if their was anything to do and he said a Waiver.

I told a little Lie that their a bunch of trees and mountains in my area their kind of is, and that I couldnt get that Channel. That guy was real cool and he said he put a bunch of stuff on the Waiver and it was totally up 2 the ABC LA channel if get it or not.

It was 1 week before the Super Bowl, He said it would take 1 month so I was Sad I couldnt watch the Super Bowl in HD

1 day before the super Bowl I checked channel 87 and Boom it was in I cried tears of Joy

Call Direct Tv ask for a Waiver tell them you live around a bunch of trees and Mountains and your OTA cant pick up that channel and maybe you will get lucky.

I should have done it sooner

What a coincidence throwback 559, I am in Lindsay also. So I know if you're getting all those digital channels OTA then I should be able to also. You say you are using the OTA from D*. What exactly does that mean?? Does Dish sell antennas? I'm a little out in the country towards Exeter. I'm pretty sure there are many good antennas out there that will work for me.

hmm I over the hill from you guys over in Salinas valley we don't even have an ABC. I got a distant ABC out of LA, but everyone over at the DBStalk forums is telling me their isn't any distant HD channels yet. Their is no way I can get ABC out of SF with an OTA. I wonder if I call in and lie like throwback559 they will give in and give it to me.

Direct Tv
Sold me the OTA and they also came and Installed it. remember that your HDTV needs a tvtuner not all hdtv's have them.

but all my channels are great unless theres a storm where the stations are located the only channel that has problems is NBCHD (24.1) but it rarely does. But the HD channels are great

NBA playoffs
on Channel 87 in HD thanks for the Waiver

OAKLAND RAIDERS games in Hi Def (47.1) The main reason I got my Panasonic 61 " rear projection LCD HDTV and xbox 360 in HD

Also I live in Lindsay By the Golf Course .
