I ordered an hdmi connector cable for my new 211 receivers. The 211 has hdmi connection on the back of it,as does my HDTV.
Will the picture look sharper using a HDMI connection instead of the component cable picture?

The signal will not pass thru a DAC (digital to analog converter). This keeps the data stream purer than using the analog component video interconnects. The difference may range from none to some better with the HDMI depending on the viability of the internal DAC your display has.
Try both... it can't hurt. Good Viewing, Doug k

The configuration of each channel probably has more to do with the end quality than an A/D conversion... if your HDMI video channel is tuned for better performance then it will appear better - or vice versa! HDMI is about copy protection, there is virtually no difference in PQ with Component or VGA, which are both analog.
There won't be a difference in 'sharpness' because a digital signal is totally 'sharp' with a fixed number of digital pixels... your display may do a better or worse job of showing it, but there is no quality difference since it's a DIGITAL signal, mapped to a DIGITAL display. Well I know from personal experience also when I had an 811 that the component blue, green, red cable connection looked much better...it gave a better picture than with hdmi.
The difference between the 811 and my new 211 is...the 211 has a hdmi connector on the back...the 811 had dvi on the back. I had a half dvi and half hdmi connector for that 811 receiver, but had a much better picture wih the component cables. Dish Network technical told me the picture would be sharper using the component cable on the 811. But in regards to the 211 which has Hdmi on the back..this can only bea win Win situation..it is totally compatable with my tv's hdmi connector. I will try it out tonight and let you all know how the picture looks.. I deeply appreciate all of your feedback here.I've learned so much and have shared my own knowkedge with you here. Thankyou for being here.
