I'm resorting to the forums to see if anyone can suggest a way to get a little more "love" from Dish to make it worth staying, rather than switching to Comcast (and saving $56/month).
We've been loyal Dish customers for 14+ years. Top 200, HBO, two 722s and a 612 - all told, $116.99/month (not incl. PP). We recently decided to switch to Comcast for internet and phone. Their rep called me today (yes, on Sunday) and is offering to add TV service that duplicates everything I have with Dish for an additional $60/month. Obviously, we like Dish - we've stayed with them a long time, but saving $56/month is pretty significant. I called Dish and was transferred to Blake in the Loyalty Dept. First, she tried to offer me Dish's internet bundle - satellite internet can't compete with cable, sorry. Then, the best she could do on video was to give me HBO for half off ($9.00) for 6 months and cut $15.00 off my bill for 10 months. So Comcast would save me $56/month and Dish is offering only $24 in savings to keep me. The $32 difference might not fill my tank, but it's enough to make me seriously consider switching to Comcast now. Am I missing something? Is there a better Dish offer out there? Any fine print I might be missing from Comcast? |

Exactly the same thing happened with me and Directv. My local cable company, Charter, with whom I have internet and phone, offered me a deal that was over $70 cheaper per month than I was currently paying. I called Directv and they couldn't/wouldn't offer me anything close to Charter's deal, though they tried. So it was bye-bye Directv and HELLO to Charter cable. I have all of the same channels, plus G4 HD and Epic HD, both of which Directv doesn't even have in SD. Additionally, Charter carries the sub channels of my locals, all for $70 a month less than I was paying for all 3 services. For me it was a no-brainer. .

Dish is not big on price matching and really never has been. They may give you small credits if there were problems with service or equipment, but that's about all you will get.

Verify any additional fees for HD and each DVR box. The last time I looked at Comcast here it was $10 for HD plus $24.99 for each DVR including the first box which has no fee with Dish. With 3 DVR’s in your house it could get pricy.

And, 2 Hoppers and Joey would give you a better DVR setup for less...
