I haven't had the WiFi adapter plugged in since about march. The install tech said it wasn't that critical. I was wondering if im missing out on anything by not
keeping it plugged in so my receiver has internet access. Receiver is VIP222K. |

You can order VOD and PPV via your remote if you have it connected. You can also download programs if you have BB@Home. There is also a sling adaptor you can make use of to view/program the receiver on smart phones, tables, netbooks, iPads or Androids.

If you have a wired connection, wifi adds nothing except a larger probability of errors.

Thanks. I was just making sure it wasn't required to get receiver box updates and stuff like that. Thanks

The Sling Adapter only works on 722/722k and Hopper receivers, 922 has a built-in sling. Thanks.

I missed the part stating the 222 receiver, not much more can be added via internet than ordering PPV.

Yea, i unplugged it as soon as the install tech left. He was a moran so i was sure he had no clue but i guess he was right about that. I even had to call dish to have someone come relocate my dish since he just layed it on the ground propped up by center blocks...lol

Okay. As an installation tech I am told that I MUST connect every ViP reciever I have to the internet. As an excuse, that I overheard a few senior techs talking about and I do jot know if it is true, I tell my customers it allows us to download the lnbf signals for 72 hours do help diagnose issues with the system. Also, it has other benefits, but most people do not care about getting ppv or DVoD. It's not just that not connecting a reciever lowers my onnectivity, but also, it helps to protect a technicians job.
I would like to ask you to plug the wifi adapter in for at least 14 days after the tech visit so he does get credit for it and doesn't have an fsm on his back. After the 14 days, unplug it if you don't want it. The tech just put the dish on center blocks? Like on a temporary mount with blocks or what? If on a mount he is doing the right thing. That mount is just there so that your states digging authority 'digsafe/811' can come mark utility lines so that dish can come back out and know where utility lines are before digging a hole, mounting a pole, and burying the orange cable. The tech should have explained this and should have asked what day after 'insert date here' would you like us to put the pole in. Morning or afternoon. The tech stuck it in the center of my yard propped up by center blocks. He told my wife he wasn't certified to mount on a roof and he would have someone come the following day to roof mount. I gave him 11 days before i called. I got home just as he was finishing up and i did sign a paper saying he had installed the wifi adapter so he could get credit for it. The funny thing is when i called to get the dish out of my yard, the same tech was sent back and put it on the roof. He acted like he had never been to my place before... lol

Now yeah, if it wasn't on a temp mount, yeah, I would not have given him the time either. While he was there I would call up dish and tell them the tech just put the dish in bricks.

Yea. It was just propped by 4 center blocks. Lol. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed someone would be by to properly do it. I gave him until the day before my yard cutting guy was to be by...lol
