Default Current Customer with Expiring 2 Year Deal...

Dish Reps,

My contract expires in September;
I want to sign up for the Hopper and Joey;
I currently have an HD DVR and an HD receiver;

Dish Network's new customers are getting the $20 off for the first year of their deal and the Joey and Hopper for FREE.

When my contract is up, I was already told that my rates will be the SAME and that I will have to PAY for the upgrade to the Hopper and Joey.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Learn the basics of marketing!!! It costs more than double to get 1 single new customer than it costs to maintain 1 single current customer.

If I can get a new customer deal right now with the free Joey and Hopper I will sign a brand new two year deal NOW.

Oh and by the way, thanks for the notification (NOT) informing me that the Sports Package w/ RedZone was going up $2.00...so much for flat pricing...oh yeah I know...you will lock in your base rate only...

First, you didn't note your subscription package. Dish had listed the upgrade cost last month, if you have AT200, the equivalent or higher, there is no fee. Less than that you have to pay. Second, the Multi-sports increase was noted back in Dec. Just because you did not notice them does not mean the costs and pricing did not happen. Third, it is possible to get a better deal, either keep calling or contact a DIRT member by IM here.

I have the American Top250 and at the online chat on Dish Network's website I was told I'd have to pay for the upgrade.
But hey, I'm game to talk to the reps on here...that's why I wrote it this thread.
Where did they state the increase on the Multi Sports Package? I'm not doubting you, I just really did not see anything about it got an e-mail about it.

to LazhilUT:
We are also a Dish customer no longer on contract. Our 2 tv's are old, as are our Dish receivers. We use vcr's to tape on as we like the portability of viewing. We were thinking of getting the Hopper/Joey and then getting one or 2 highdef tv's.
A Dish technician was here 2 days ago to upgrade the internet service w/WildBlue. He gave us a brochure that offers the Americas Top 200 for $39 to new customers(we have that plan and pay $59 per month). I've spoken w/2 Dish reps and asked if I can have that plan if I upgrade to the Hopper, both have said that is only for new customers.
Dish is not trying at all to keep its old customer base satisfied and they may lose customers in the process.

Nancy

Unfortunately Cable, Dish and DirecTV are not really concerned with keeping current subscribers, they only want NEW subscribers. Whenever one of these companies come out with some new deal or equipment they give the same BS, it's only for NEW customers. I have found the only way around this is to move from cable to dish to directv every few years (when your contract expires) to get the new deal or best equipment. Otherwise you end up paying $100's of dollars for that equipment when the the NEW guy get's it free.

I really don't know why this happens like this? As others have said, it's more cost effective to keep someone paying the bill and make them happy than to "recruit" new customers. And what happens when you piss off your customers, they leave for the competition to get the better deal...

Default 922 dies

I have tried to upgrade to the new Hopper and Joey and just want to get away from the 922 that has been nothing but trouble. I am on my 3rd one as they just go out. I have lost many hours of programs when they die. Dish Chat has said I could upgrade for the $100 but I don't think that is fair as much trouble I have had with the 922. Please let me know what to expect from this. Thank you

Please PM your account information to me so I can assist you further. I just upgraded to the Hopper from the 922 (although I didn't have problems with my 922) and I paid the upgrade charge. Thanks.
