Quick question, on the Dish site it says that you can record up to 6 channels (4 with PTAT and 2 normal stations.) If I don't plan on getting PTAT would I be able to record 6 standard channels or only 2?

.......I don't want to. Getting a Hopper would mean I would be getting rid of my current VIP722 recievers.

Really like it so far. GUI looks good and super fast. This is something Directv has not figured out yet.

I got the OTA module up and running and set up timers for next week while we are out of town. Once i get back and can watch some recordings, i'll have better input on his this performs.

Having an annoying bug, that seems to have been around awhile.

Every morning, when I change to my List 1 favs, a random local channel is missing. Yesterday I had to re-add NBC, today CBS was missing, but it will not let me re-add it. It shows in All My Channels.

Like I said though, I found it this was a bug thats been around, so hopefully they figure it out. Something with the early morning update seems to be causing it.

Default Hopper has new Folders we do not want

A few nights ago the Hopper updated and added two new Folders to My Recordings. One is Rentals, the other is Deleted Recordings. Deleted Recordings also shows up in each of our other folders, so over all we have a lot of Icons for Deleted Recordings. We would like to Delete these new icons and the ability to restore our Deleted Recordings. I would also like to get rid of the new folder Rentals. How can I do this? Thanks so much. These new icons/folders are very distracting and will not be used.

I dont think you can delete the PTAT and Rentals folders. I have not messed with the deleted items yet, but I figured youd be able to restore it. I know anything you delete will be held on the trash for 48hours.

You can't delete the actual folders. You can delete PTAT content from the PTAT folder or allow the content to delete automatically. If you have further questions, please let me know. Thanks.

You can't delete the Rentals or Deleted Recordings folders. You can delete any folders you created. Please let me know if you have further questions. Thanks.

Default Installation Options - Dish Hopper

I have everything home run to my basement with typically 2 cat6 and 2 RG6 cables at least in every box and 2-3 boxes per room. My house is about 4,000+ sqft and so the runs are long from the basement to my master bathroom TV, though I have a closet where I can link my Master bedroom tv and the Master Bathroom TV. I need to attach 8 TVs. Ideally, I would have a box in my basement and run all 8 Joeys to that box, but that can't happen. So, I must have to locate the Hoppers in two of the rooms. So, I need, I believe, one RG6 into the room and One RG6 out of the room where the Hopper is. I believe I can take the RG6 out back to distribution point in the basement and then connect up a switch where three of the Joeys can be connected. I would prefer to run Cat6 back out of the Hopper to a router/switch in my distribution location and then up to the Joey's as I understand that is typically a better connection(my cable DVR multi-room uses a gigabit switch currently for that) I have of course gigabit internet in each room as well.

I read some where, though not supported, that you can run cat6 between joeys and hoppers. If so, do you make the connection through a router or switch and does that likely have to be a dedicated switch (that is fine)? If I can't do this, is one RG6 in and out adequate? I have two locations where I can be within 25-40 ft of the distribution point where I easily have two RG6 in one outlet and if I had to, could have more to get back to the distribution point.

Any thoughts on the cleanest way to get the connection to and from the distribution point in my basement would be appreciated and any concerns over distances as well between the dish, LNB switches, hopper back to the joey switch, etc.

This really sounds like a much better solution than me getting two four room distribution boxes from my cable that can't talk to each other and about $50.00 a month to add the second boxes, which are large and no other streaming.
