Default Ripped off by local dealer. Dish not willing to help

I was a subscriber to Americas top 60 package with a standard receiver. I contacted a local dealer to get local channels and upgrade to an HD receiver. He came out and installed a superdish with to give me local channels and he installed an 811 HD receiver. He charged me 400 dollars and said that I was purchasing the reciever. I get my bill and it turns out that he set me up for the dishn' it up program and that I will pay 5 bucks a month to lease the 811. I call dish network and they tell me that I qualify for local channels for free and that the superdish should have been free. They also tell me that other than a 50 dollar charge for shipping I shouldn't have been charged for the reciever since I am leasing it. I call my local dealer and he fed me some BS lines and says that dish network is wrong. I got incredibl pissed at him but he is unwilling to refund my money. I again call DN and they tell me sorry it is not their problem and that I need to deal with my local dealer. What should I do? Yes I could call the better business bureau and such but that doesn't help me get my money back.

Small Claims Court. Most JP offices will even help you file your paperwork. You will need to get all your ducks in a row. Get the Dish Network reply in writing, etc.

Default Rip Off

Couldn't you disput the charges on your credit card? The credit card company would investigate and most times, credit your account.

Good Luck!

Well a Superdish upgrade should have been $50.00 with a one year agreement. The 811 dishn' it up should have been $99.00 with another one year agreement.

Other than that I don't know what he could have charged you for. Unless he had to put the dish out on a pole and bury a bunch of cable. Retailers can charge for those kind of things.

Definately try through the CC company first then Small Claims if no resolution and report to BBB.
