Default Check your dish bill

Check your DISH bill. DISH frequently adds "free services" for a limited time, for instance $72 a year for on site service, and many more. Then they coax you into auto pay. Most check their bills the first few months and there are no extra charges. All appears well. Then, when the "free" period is over, auto pay begins deducting for all the "extra's" that one may not have wanted and they may not see it for years.

I had heard they do this a lot and end up extracting extra money from unsuspecting customers. I checked my bill...sure enough...

Do you think DISH might want everyone on auto pay so they won't look at their bills? No, couldn't be.

If you have been scammed, try one of these DISH executives:

Call corporate headquarters at this number, 303, 723- 1000, hit 9, and then key in these direct line extensions to the execs at the prompt:

Tom Cullen, Exec. VP Programming 285536
Erik Carlson, Exec. VP Operations 2275766
Stanton Dodge, Exec. VP 36343
Steven Wood, Exec VP - 9663783
Roger Lynch, Exec VP 59624
Robert Olson, Exec VP - 65766

Hello, this is Mike LeMar with the Executive Offices of DISH Network. Are you referring to the HBO and Showtime promotion free for the first three months of service? If so, then typically we require customers to call in to tell us to remove it by the end of the promotional period to avoid future charges. However, I can look into this for you to see what I can do if you haven't been able to speak to somebody already. Let me know and I would be happy to assist you further!

Anyone on autopay who does not check their bill each month is foolish, not because of the nefariousness of Dish Network, but because billing errors happen all the time and it is YOUR responsibility to mind your business.

It is SOP for free "offers" to continue being charged when the free period ends and you do not terminate them, it is the exception rather than the rule that they just go away.

I thought this as well, but for some reason, the 3 months free Starz promotion after the fox debacle, was automatically just taken off. I called to cancel it, but the cs rep told me it was already gone. She then offered me 3 free months of cinemax, which I actually turned down because I didn't want anything added, when a slew of complications have been happening with my account.

Dish changed my phone number in their online records, which was correct last month, but all the sudden wrong this month. I also found out that when you change your credit/debit card info on the website, it automatically makes that months payment. I was not to happy about this happening, as I let them know I didn't sign or accept any terms or conditions to allow this. I only have about a half a year left, and all of these strange things happening are starting to make me wonder about how much trouble is worth staying with Dish.
