Question Dish home protection plan

My free 9 month DISH HOME PROTECTION PLAN ends next week. Dish charges $5.99 per month for it. Cancel that plan or should I keep it? Thanks.

Keep it. It saves you from charges for equipment replacement when the warranty on said equipment runs out and it saves you from $99 service call fees. Well worth the minimal cost in my opinion.

Keep it. Feb.1 the DHPP is beinig renamed the "Service Plan", and to cancel the "Service plan" is going to cost you $25.

Technician Fee is $15 with the service plan and $95 without the service plan.

UGHHH, $5.99 per month, and after one year that equals about $72. I cancelled mine, and while I am under contract, I am taking a chance, but after this year is up, and hopefully nothing goes wrong, I saved the $72, plus 3 more months equals close the price of the service call. After my contract is up, if they don't want to fix it or replace it for free, then I will just tell them to stick it up you know where, and go back to cable, where the equipment and service calls are free.
It still amazes me that they charge $5.99 per month for leased equipment.

Cancel it....Its a big big rip off

Even if your reciever breaks they will fix it, only difference is, they will send new reciever to you and you have to install it

I canceled my fee years ago...Its a rip off

Even with the $25 cancellation fee, unless you have more than 3 failures a year, it is still cheaper to subscribe when you need it, then cancel after the service is done.

Also, repairs each have a 90 day warranty.

you're a total idiot if you look at it like that

the reason why cable companies dont charge you for a tech visit is cause they're monthly rates for programming and rcvrs are much higher, so they make up from that cost every month....

with the transition to the service plan and all its new benefits, at only $6/month its a great value

but then again its always your choice, if you wanna save $6/ month and pay twice the dvr fee, on average 40% more for programming and rcvr fee's with cable companies, then thats your problem....

My best freebie was 25 years ago trying to get my free rear pick up truck bumper as was advertised by our local car dealer. New one was couple hundred, used about a hundred, they would only part with the free one if installed on a new truck that I had to purchase with the free bumper!! I passed up on the free bumper.

I like dish network and the service, but it isn't really any cheaper than my cable company. I'm paying the same now for T.V. as when I had cable, and I have a few less channels. One of the big reasons I went with Dish, is for the NFL network. I think your quite a bit off on your 40% figure. If that were the case, then nobody would use cable.
$6 per month isn't going to make or break anyone, but if you add it up at $72 per year, after a few years, you become the IDIOT, paying hundreds of dollars for a service, that I can just about guarantee you, that if I threaten to cancel, that they will fix any problems that I have.
