Default Using Dish 500 with new 222k receiver

Is it possible to use an old Dish 500 antenna with a new 222K receiver? The 500 antenna has two two coax cables coming from it and they go into what looks like a switch box, then a single coax runs into the house. On my old receiver there was a single connection for the coax. The new receiver has connections for two coax cables.

For the purpose of this question, I do not need HD. The real destination for the 222k is my motorhome. I would just like to use the receiver in my mountain cabin when I am here.

Thanks, Bill

The 222 receiver requires 2 coax connections be active in order to work properly. That means 2 cables must be connected to the box. You could use a Dish diplexer but I am not sure that would work using a 222 as it is intended to be used with the Dish 1000.x series of dishes or two Dish 500's, that is 3 LNB feeds.

The answer is yes. I have a VIP222 connected to a Dish 500 and Dish 300 side dish. The VIP222k is essentially the same receiver minus the OTA module.

This stuff is black art to me, so my question might be really dumb. Since the D500 has two coax cables coming from it, could I just run both cables into the house and connect one to each terminal of the 222K?

Thanks, Bill

if the lnb is a dish pro PLUS you can use with a single wire using a diplexer behind the receiver.

Call a local Retailer. And, we'll check your receiver in the store for free. If you can reach your LNBF, we'll check it for free too!!!!
