Default Contract question

My mother-in-law is clueless on this stuff. She bought a brand new 46 inch lcd at best buy. Since her local cable company does not offer HD she signed up with Dish Network for her programming. She is in the Paducah local market. Dish Netowrk does not offer the locals in HD (Directv does). She is a person who watches locals 98% of the time. (She is a CSI and NCIS freak) As you can imagine she is not happy to learn that Dish Network did not bother to tell her that her locals would not be in HD knwoing full well she had just bought a new 46 inch LCD to watch them with and switching from cable to Dish network. Do you think she can get out of her contract? They did not tell her her locals would not be in HD, just conveinantly foget to mention this to her

i, like her, can't get my locals in hd via dish. however, a twenty year-old antenna brings them in perfectly (attached to the dvr)...

some people need bigger antennas than i do, i understand...but it has only been a mild inconvenience for me.

don't know if you can get out of the contract; you can read 'em the riot act...it may work.

Thaks for the reply, we have looked into the antennae root but it would involve installing a fairly tall outdoor antennae from scratch as the stations are anywhere from 25-50 miles away. We can get the 25 mile station with rabbit ears but none of the rest.

There is a current discussion on us satellite guys suggesting that the Paducah HD locals may be available in the next few weeks.

To cancel it, it is $13.33 for every month left in her 24-month contract. That's around 306 dollars for 23 months. I'd atleast keep it a year before I canceled.

Does she know that these shows are syndicated on other channels? Not new episodes but CSI: Miami comes on all the time on A&E in HD. So do the rest of them. regular csi is on spike tv in hd.

So, I bet theres a lot of shows she would want to watch if she tried it. go over there and show her the guide and show her how many channels she gets. She may soon forget about the local channels.

I myself, watch a lot of shows and football on the local channels and I'm glad I get them in HD. But if I didn't the dish would still be worth it.

But an OTA antenna will deliver you the BEST HD available other than Blu-ray. HD via an antenna is less compressed than what cable or satellite provides.

Call a local Retailer. And, we'll check your receiver in the store for free. If you can reach your LNBF, we'll check it for free too!!!!

That you can see OR the way your TV is adjusted. In most all cases if things are setup correctly there is a noticeable difference...
