Hi all, I recently switched over to DISH to upgrade to HD for free. My first 811 died after 3 days! It did not recognise the smart card anymore. My new 811 has guide info for 1 hour ahead only. Also drops local HD channels from line up occasionally. Anyway, tonight it somehow switched to stretch mode! Even my HD channels are strecthed, Yuch!
I didnt find any help in the manual either. I'm using component cables and my Sony 57" rear projection is set for full screen. Any info would be appreciated. It has the 2.89 update already. Thanks, Bryy Redding, CA 96002I finally figured out the mystery,FORMAT duh

Yup.as you have probably figured out by now,the page up button does all your HD modes and page down does your SD modes.Welcome to HD Forum.Just thought I would edit and add ,most Sony sets I have run into if they have DVI look alot better using that connection over component as it keeps it digital. Don't know whether it is just Sony's scalers or what, but for a few $$ you could take a look at the difference.

I had the same problem with my 921. It wasn't documented in the manual. This forum helped me out.
If your 811 has the same remote, the * button changes the format. It toggles between normal, zoom, and stretch. |

I also have a 921 that sometimes displays stretched SD channels (says normal) and disables the format switch on the remote when this happens. As it only happens once every 30-60 days, I usually just perforam a "soft reset" to correct the problem.
