Do usb tv tuners not work with HD DVR?

Seriously, what the f***? Here I am trying trying to find a tv tuner for hours that can work with directv and yet cannot seem to find one that will be able to work with my Directv HD DVR Receiver. Is there anything out that can work? I want to be able to record on my PC as well.

Alright sorry about that, but can someone please tell if it's possible that if I get this AM21 box that I will be able to stream and record on my pc?

It's an OTA tuner that hooks up to your DVR enabling your DVR to see and record OTA channels. That's all it is.

Directv offers DIRECTV2PC Capability Now Available for playing material recorded on your DVR on a remote PC, but not record.

The only device I know of that will allow you to record HD video on your PC from your DVR is the Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR Video Capture device. Makes m2ts files with mpeg4 compression.

As far as I know, there is not a D* capable PC card/tuner that will let you view D* content directly on a PC like you can with cable. As was posted above, I guess you'ld have to download/stream the HD content from the DVR thru an add-in card to the PC by using the component outputs on the DVR (or composite if a SD unit). That would mean a standalone unit however.
