Default Released from contract?

I was planning on switching to FIOS from DTV, but much to my chagrin I found out from DirecTv that when I upgraded to a HD box in Feb, that automatically renewed my contract for another two years. According to them the customer agreement that pops up when you order the HD upgrade online outlines this renewal. I don't remember ever seeing the agreement pop up.

Is there anything I can do to get it if this contract, any tricks or techniques? I am completely pissed at this deceptive practice!

Thanks!

The large print giveth and the small print taketh away. It's always important to read everything when changing or signing up for a new service. They is no way to get out of the contract but you can pay an early termination fee.

You can reduce your level of programming, down to the bare minimum. Constantly complain about your poor service & lack of programming. Maybe, if the wheel sqeeks enough it will get greased.

maybe if you had unblocked (pop ups) you would have seen the agreement.

You will have to either stay or pay the fee and move on.

Default dont be a sheep

Sean put whatever they want to charge you on your credit card and dispute it. Tell them about all the problems you are having and lay it on thick. Tell dtv to go phuck Themselves be persitent you will prevail. Dtv is in breach of contract when they dont fulfil their end. Im sure some of the retards on this site that love to refute anything will spout off. bbaahhhh bbaaahhh. The credit card company will take care of it if hold your ground. Most people just pay because they dont want the hassle. so you have to determine wether its worth it for you. I was a dtv customer for many years but i switched to Uverse which is not only a far superior product but much more cost effective. I now get my internet, phone and tv programming with all the premiums for what i was paying just for dtv. Dump them they get worse and worse. Their signals are so inconsistent from channel to channel. Trust me get UVERSE you wont regret it!!

i would recommend to get the fios service and try it before you get rid of DTV. Grass always look greener on other side. One misleading part on DTV contract is that if they change your receiver even under service plan it will renew your contracts, i complained about this to DTV and they let me out of my contract i am month to month now. i hate to cancel though because cable DVR has only 20 hours and don't accept external drive, my DTV HR21 DVR has 1 TB esta drive connected to it and it gives me huge space. On of my friend complained about uverse slow internet speed though. DTV is always ahead of competition, they had networked HD DVR almost three years ago with most HD channels and best sports package (Sunday ticket for most people). before paying cancelation fee or going that rout try out other service and then decide, put your DTV account on hold. i do it mostly in summer for few months.

Then why are you reading the DirecTV forum ??

Not as happy with Uverse as you claim ??

Great attitude toward fiscal responsibility.

The OP didn't say they were having troubles with their DIRECTV service so they can't really tell DIRECTV about all the problems they are having with their service. They keep track of every time you call them with a service issue.

The credit card company will take care of it if hold your ground.
Somewhere in the credit card aggreement it must say - Lie to DIRECTV and we'll stand behind you.

I've never noticed the DIRECTV signals being inconsistent from channel to channel. Has anyone else noticed this ?

Tell dtv to go phuck Themselves be persitent you will prevail.
That always works.

Are you kidding?
I've had Uverse for about 4 months and am soon going back to D*.
Their dvr is terrible. In addition to it freezing during playback, even though I program it to record only first run programs, it constantly records all of them, over and over. It sucks.
The only reason I tried Uverse is because of the $250 rebate they offered me to sign. I'll be gone soon.

Default write it and they will come

sean i told you lol. Instead of trying to help you with your problem most of these amway moguls will just bash any idea they dont agree with. Im not saying my solution is perfect im trying to help. If you believe that you are morally obligated to a company that grossly overcharges for a product thats your call. now let me respond to tweedle dee and tweedle douchebag. dr sad ,glenn be dumb, the reason everything costs so much is greed. and if you think things are expensive now just wait 2 yrs. Obango has u s currency on a hyper inflation fastrack. why dont you write uncle sambo on morals and fiscal responsibility. If you cant see the differences in the channels either you equipment is gargbage or you need new glasses. All electronics and signals have imperfections even blu ray. If all you look at is a mediocre display you wont see the diiference which probably fits right in to your life. have a beautiful day.

Whiners like PugDaddy make me sick. There's a group of people out there that don't believe they're responsible for any contract they agree to. Don't like something, get a scumbag lawyer to sue about it. Don't want to pay your bills, file for bankruptcy. Etc, etc, etc.

Hey PugDaddy, go whine somewhere else.
