Why would anyone actually cancel their service for such a modest increase. This is what directv does every year about this time. I was actually expecting a larger increase.

Angry Reduce your service in response to their price increase

I think DirecTV should feel the impact of increasing prices during a recession. To that end, I reduced my service yesterday (2/14/2009). I will not have all the movie channels now, I cancelled HD Accesss, I removed the monthly protection plan and cut my bill in about half. I will add these things back if DirecTV will give a PRICE CUT rather than a PRICE INCREASE.

Now, during a recession is time for a price cut rather than a price increase. If many of their customers will do the same, they should get the message!

I really doubt DIRECTV will give a PRICE CUT. I guess you'll never add that stuff back to your package again then.

There is no difference when you look at it in that way.The public makes a company popular. And if the product is affordable to that public, that company does better bigger business

By the way Emil,
AMC HD will probably be here before you know it ,since the cable companies are in bed with Directv. We already have several COMCAST(which is a cable company) HD Sports channels on Directv.
AGREED!!!!! There isn't a difference. It isn't bad, besides the service is awesome, i am just glad I dont have to call Customer Care much. They are hit and miss

Let us know how that goes.

And by the way, in a recession it is time for spending not time for cutting back and complaining. You've got to put money back into the system in order for there to be jobs. And NO I'm not talking about ridiculous stimulus packages, I'm talking about the average person.

any word on what HD channels will be added to make this price increase worth it?

higher price still means higher amount of HD doesn't it? or did Comcast buy DirecTV?

You really need to post the document you have that states price equates to the quantity of HD. Don't think I ever received a copy from D*.
More negative vibes from you.

well Comcast raised their prices at the beginning of the year and lost 119,000 basic-subscriber losses in 2008 after the increases were announced in September, that's more than double their 2007 losses.

full story here http://www.multichannel.com/article/...s_Up_Short.php

I had Comcast for 8 months and the whole time they added I think 3 HD channels. The price increase on top of no new HD channels was the last straw for me.

So unless DirecTV wants to lose that many subscribers they should add a shitload of HD channels within a month of upping the prices.

You really need to see a vet, as you are one sick puppy. Make the best of what you have as your bitching posts will not have an impact on the way D* runs their business. Like it or leave it. Vote your dis-satisfaction with a cancellation notice. Show us your true convictions and stop crying like a little girl.

chirshey,
I never said i was dissatisfied, I just said there's always room for improvement.

I've said I'm not cancelling 10000000000000 times. What part of that don't you understand?

I'll explain it one more time, since you seem to be slow:

Dish Network = No MLB Network, no money from me.

Comcast = had it, hated it, will never get it again if my life depended on it.

There's no other providers here.

How dare you call me a sick puppy. I'm a cat god damn it!
