Default Activation/set up problem

I just received a new HR22-100 and I called Directv to activate it. I am connecting the TV using an HMDI cable. They say that it is activated and it should be working. It is not working. All that it is doing is the middle blue light is spinning and the the resolution lights are going on one by one. Is there something wrong with the box? Do I have to have someone come for a service call? Did I do something wrong? Anybodys help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No TV on Long Island

It sounds like the receiver is still in reset mode. Do you have your access card inserted properly? Are you hooked up to the satellite feed properly (i.e. cable)? Do you have two satellite feeds (required for DVR operation)? If you only have one, are you hooked up to Tuner 1? Do you have the B-band converter hooked up (is it needed for the 22)? You're not getting any display at all? You should get a welcome screen and other various boot up screens. If you're not getting those, try to hook the receiver up with some other cables (i.e. component video or even composite video) to make sure you're getting some kind of output. Once you hook it up with these cables, reset the receiver making sure the access card is inserted properly and see if you get display. If you do not, then there is definitely something wrong.

It's most likley downloading new software. This happens sometimes faster than others upon setup. Let it do it's thing for about 20 mins to a half an hour. If it does not get better after that unplug it for about a minute and repeat sat setup.

When I activated a new HR22-100 yesterday, it took 3 tries for the receiver to get the activation signal from D*.

Seems like this used to be more simple ?

And yes, it wanted to download updates very quickly, I hit the download later button so I could get the activation done first.

The receiver finally worked after a phone call. It seemed that the automated activation process is not enough. I had to speak to a tech who did something else. I have to admit the new HR22-100 box gives a beautiful picture in HD. Thanks for the help.
