Unhappy System Test Message

What would cause an LNB Fail when you do a system test? Just had a tech come out and change out the LNB and it still gives me a fail message. He told us up front that HD was not his expertise. He has only been doing service calls for 6 months.. This man said he thought it was the trees in the back. However, there's a clear line of sight through the trees and no wind. We've lost Discovery, ESPN and HDNET. Any clues from any experts out there?

PS We have the Samsung TS360 receiver..could that be the problem?

I recently lost these as well!!! Do you get a signal on any of the Sat B transponders? I get one on the number 23 but nothing on others. Sat A and C are ibn 90's so I do not know how this can happen when you only need 18degrees of opening

Well, this morning I have a signal of 99 on 119, transponder 32. Nothing else on the others. Still no DiscoveryHD, ESPNHD and no HNET.

Hi Granny,

More than likely you have encountered trees that have either gotten taller or leaves have become thicker obstructing the dish. I recently had many problems with trees and had to move the dish, SAT B I belive is the hardest to receive because its the lowest in the sky.

My suggestion to you is find another place for the dish or call DTV and demand them to move it for ya.

Let me know how you make out. BTW are you experining any freezeing on your receiver causing you to rest the receiver?

It would be a good idea to have the dish moved away from the trees.

As a matter of fact I have had some freezes of the receiver, but only when it's off overnight. I leave it in the standby mode which shows just the time. I turned the receiver on and then the TV and there was no picture, couldn't change channels either. Had to reboot. One day just this week, the receiver rebooted itself. We can't move the dish because it's up on a tall mast and I still do not believe that we all of a sudden lost a signal in a matter of 2 weeks time. There was a clean hole for the satellite and when the dish was installed, we had signals of in the upper 90's. We have had two service calls. Last one I asked the company that does DirecTV servicing to send a different tech...guess what....they sent the same guy out. My plan is to cancel the HD package when the 6months freebie runs out on June 29. I still have Showtime HD and HBO HD. Hopefully some more of the movie channels will start some HD programming for those of us who cannot get 119 B. I may start up the service again in the dead of winter just to see what happens.

No one has an explanation for the "LNB Fail" when I do the system test. I have a Samsung TS360 receiver.

Granny I have the ts 360. The lnb fail would be if its not receiving a signal from all 3 satellites. Goto channel 492 and 493 thats the test sat for B, you may only be receving one or none. Are you receiving HBO or Showtime at least? those are dependant on sat C

Yes I am receiving HBO and Showtime...thank goodness for that. 492 and 493 both say Searching for signal. I'm going to have to wait for more HD channels in the packaging we already have.

Thanks for the information and suggestions. As for moving the dish, it was a very big ordeal and very hard to hoist a mast about 10 feet tall and made of big lumber to our roofline. My husband is not about to attempt that feat again. He's 70! Had me on the ground doing what I could do. It was a very risky task we undertook. No way "Jose" as they say..hahahaha
