Need to reduce my Bill $$$

Money's tight right now and i am trying to reduce all of my bills. Right now i have the plus DVR service with HD and 2 receivers. I've only been a customer for about 2 months now? I was thinking of getting rid of DTV all together since there's so many other deals out there. But can i?

I was also just thinking of downgrading to the $29.99/month package and taking off HD and DVR service. I know there nice but i can live without them. As long as i have my bluray and 360 in hidef is all that matters. WHat can i do? Cancel? adjust?

You may want to start with a call to D* and see what offers they might give you in your quest to lower your costs. Cancellation will probably require a penalty payment which may be a good long term plan for your circumstances. Only you can make that decision after weighing all your options.

Depends on your original agreement. It was there in small print unless the installer screwed up. However, to keep a customer, DIRECTV has been known to negotiate...from time to time. Unfortunately, this may very well depend on which customer service rep you get. Some of them are complete a$$holes. Others less so. May have to go up the chain and get someone with authority to help you out. Sorry about your financial struggles shared with millions of others. These are tough times.

It's got nothing to do with the installer.

The new customers sign up for a 1 or 2 year commitment nowadays, been that way for quite a while now.
