Direct TV DVR Question

If I accept Direct TV's current offer of a free HD DVR receiver with their Plus HD DVR package, will I be able to make a disc, (using a separate HD DVR/VHS recorder) of a movie first recorded onto the Direct TV DVR receiver?
I'm assuming that the Direct TV DVR receiver uses a hard drive for recording purposes. Is this correct?

You can play the recording on the DVR as if you'd be watching it on TV, connect a DVD recorder to the DVR output and start recording.
