CMT in HD or not?
So using the program guide, CMT HD just started listing programs as being broadcast in HD. However, if you go to watch something that has the HD Next to the shows name, it is not broadcasting in HD.
Is CMT actually broadcasting in HD yet or is this a mistake by DirecTV? I know its been listed for a while as CMTHD, but I never saw the HD next to the program names until this past week. |

While I am a huge Country music fan, the videos just dont thrill me. but to answer your question, its not HD yet

I was viewing that Wresiling show they have and I think the transmission is 1080i but it's (IMO) only SD that is being upconvered. most of there movies are the same at this time.

It's amazing how many HD channels have been on there for a year or so and still don't broadcast HD. For example MTV, VH1 & CMT.

I ended up here from a google search. I have dish network and was having a similar question..
Watching Top 20 Countdown now, and the video is 16x9 but CMT is adding bars at the top and bottom and sending it out 4x3 with a "CMT HD" label at the bottom... MY GOD, all the videos they are showing are 16x9 HD, even the host video scenes are HD, but they make the choice to shrink it and send it 4x3 so that they do have to run two edits.. Country videos are not a big thing to me, but they are good to watch every once and a while but big black bars are enough to make me change the channel... |

VH1 sucks! When they show the TOP20 videos of the week show there's always blacks bars on all 4 sides. My local TV station news is in full HD, get with it VH1.

DirecTV did their part & allocated an HD channel to them four years ago. However, I don't think CMT has figured this out yet.
MTV sometimes has HD programming. Usually it's an awards show or the very first airing of one of their junk reality shows. |

They have some shows hd,you have to remember CMT is a mtv network.
