Default How Many Directv Boxes Can I Activate And Hook Up To A 5 LNB Slimline Dish?

I currently have 4 directv boxes throughout the house and I wanted to hook up 3 more in one location. I have 3 plasmas in the basement and wanted to hook up a directv box to each of them individually for NFL Sunday ticket. Can someone tell me the correct splitter/setup as well as if Directv will allow seven boxes on one account. Does anyone have more than 4 boxes hooked up normally? Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure DIRECTV will let you have as many boxes on an account as you want. They don't have a limit.

I don't think there is a limit. Check this out for how to connect up to 8 lines.

Keep in mind, if any of your boxes are DVR's they should have 2 lines for full functionality. So you may need this configuration.

Or you could use this.

DirecTV even gave us an additional 5 LNB Dish for our Guest House (2 5 LNB Dishes total) with install... we have 8 on our account now, only have to pay the $5.95 as usual..

Why a 2nd dish? You just need a multi-switch.

A slimline has 4 outputs, so per tuner;...

4 SD receivers - or -
2 dual tuner receivers (DVRs) - or -
a combo of above.

Add an 8-way or 16-way multi-switch for up to 16 tuners (8 DVRs, or 16 SD basic STBs or a combo thereof), installed for free most cases. These can be cascaded if needed for even more tuners.

I can see a 2nd dish if the guest house is not very close to the main house and they didn't want to run long cables above or below ground.

I hate to revive a dead thread, but I have a question... the way my cable comes off of my satellite, I have 2 cables going into the house to a central location (where all my pre-run outlets terminate) and 2 cables going into my family room directly (for an HD DVR box). I was wondering do I need to connect all 4 cables into the multiswitch as shown or can I just hook 2 up and go from there?

The Ka/Ku (hi def) 6X8 switch needs all 4 lines to power it. If your not using the Ka/Ku bands (103b) then all you need is 2 feeds from the dish to your switch. GL
