Default HR22 twice the storage as HR21 ?

I was about ready to purchase an HR21, but noticed that Best Buy's website shows the new HR22 for $199 (backordered for a week or two). The HR22 shows up on their site as having 100 hours of HD programming, versus 50 for the HR21. For $20 extra bucks, it seems a no brainer to go with the HR22.

I haven't been able to find out too much info on the HR22. Is it very similar to the HR21? Any upgraded features? Improvements in operation over the HR21?

The HR22 is exactly like the HR21 except it has a 500gb hard drive instead of a 320gb.

By any chance does is have a 1080p on the front panel video format indicator area as opposed to an 1080i like my HR-21s?

I ask because there is an add in a recent HT mag that shows what appears to be a rack mountable HR-2? with a 1080p indicator where I have the 1080i indicator! The add talks about a HD DVR Pro.

Edit: In fact the ad in (Home Ent. Mag) calls it the HR21 Pro Series HD DVR and it has 100 Hr of HD recording capacity! And it clearly shows 480i 480p 720p & 1080p on the front panel. Odd that they call it the Pro Series and it does not have ATSC tuners!

Nah, has 1080i on the front just like the HR21s. I bought one a few days ago. With the current Best Buy 10% coupon that's valid thru Aug 31st, it was only in the $180s.

You paid $180 to start the monthly lease program. You don't own the DVR.

When a 1080p program is playing, both the 720p and 1080i indicators will be lit at the same time.

That goes without saying. No one ever really owns a piece of equipment with the DirecTV symbol on it

Does it require two signal inputs? Or, have they worked around that yet?

Directv just recently starting making the SWM's (single-wire mgmt) available as part of new installs in some areas. Existing customers who don't mind paying for the hardware can buy an SWM online and install it.

D* sends me all my receivers. Are you buting them at Best Buy and still not owning them? Straighten me out here. Also with the reliability of the DVR's I get from D* (hung systems) do you get to replace them through the mail like I do if you buy them at BB?

All Directv receivers (other than the HR21 Pro) are leased, whether you get them at best buy, circuit city, or through Directv. Since you are leasing the receiver, it will be replaced for free if it fails. You will only be charged a shipping fee (if you don't have the protection plan).

Default Don't forget

Don't forget even if a DT DVR breaks and you get a new one, they extend your contract 24 months. Kinda sucks.

So, why does the R-22 userguide have a section on the 90 day warranty?
Mike.
