Default Just got free upgrade to HR2x HD DVR (NFL SuperFan promo)

DTV gave me an automated call just 1/2 hour ago stating that the NFL SuperFan package this fall would require me to upgrade to the new equipment. (I've been planning on doing it, just not taken the time yet.) The call said that they would give me a free upgrade to the new HD equipment as an NFL SuperFan customer and that if I was interested to press "1".

I pressed "1" and got a customer rep, but the woman had no idea that I got to her by responding to an automated call. I explained the offer from the automated call, she confirmed that I could get the upgrade for free (2 yr commitment), and booked the installation (5lnb dish, too).

Assuming everything gets installed cleanly and the new dvr works, I'm pretty excited. Lots more HD channels !!!

I'm up and running now. So far things seem to be working very well. The installer was fantastic - knew exactly what was what (said he'd been doing these new installs at the rate of ~20/wk for about a year).

I was hoping for a better picture from the HR21 as compared to the HR10-250, but it seems pretty close to the same. The locals definitely looked better OTA, so I'll probably get an AM21 at some point. But so far, so good.

Out of my 4 receivers only one of them are MPEG4 compliant. I also have Superfan. Should I be getting a call? Also will I be forced to change to the new equipment for all of my receivers? I am content with my setup now, but I want the NFLST package.

All of my receivers are HD receivers, but not all of my TV's are HD. I use them to pull in the digital OTA signals.

If I have to change out my receivers will they just deliver them. I do not have the time or patience to wait on someone screwing with my systems.

I got the call, but no superfan or ST deals, and was told that they'd not have any until June. I had already upgraded, so didn't need any new equipment.

They have an installer bring the receivers out - if you don't need new lines, just have the old receivers removed and insist on hooking things up yourself.

Let everyone know if you can snag free am21's, I live in a market without DTV locals, and the installers only had HR21's.

That was the impression I got from the automated call that came to me. Note that I'd been planning to do the upgrade since the Super Bowl but just hadn't taken the time to do it. Part of the reason was that I was bracing for an argument with DTV over how much they'd charge me to switch from the HR10-250. The call sort of forced my hand in terms of stating that superfan wouldn't be available w/o the new equipment, but they removed the obstacle of the confrontation by making the upgrade free (w/ 2yr commitment).

I already had an HR20 and an HR10-250 (HDTiVo). I called last week and asked about upgrading the HR10 for MPEG4. They told me it would be no charge and did NOT extend my contract. When the CSR was summarizing the call, he clearly said that there was no contract extension. Not that I'm thinking of leaving, but better without the extension.

They sent out an installer with an HR21-100 (no charge). I had mentioned to the CSR that I wanted OTA (even though D* has my HD locals) for add'l subchannels. When the installer had no idea of what an AM-21 was, I called D* back and they FedEx'ed one out to me (n/c).

I received it yesterday and was really impressed with how well it works. The tuner is very efficient. So, it doesn't really matter if they have your locals in HD or not, they will get you the OTA tuner if you mention that you want subchannels they don't provide.

They didn't provide a phone number. The call had me hit '1' to connect me to a rep.

I dont have a landline phone, so no call for me, but does the offer involve "free" Superfan like they offered last year? Its was a pain in the butt to get them to admit that I should have it, but after about 5 hours on the phone, I did end up saving the $100.

I've been having some technical issues that require a service call from the technician. It took a few calls to get this resolved, so I asked for a SuperFan upgrade...she said "no dice". She did give me a half-months credit, however.
