Default NON HD SF Bay Area Question

I just got one of those digital converters to use with the small TV in my office. I realize the conversion isn't until next year but I tied it and this is what I found.

Ch 11 comes in Perfect... was snowy on analog
Ch 5 has only 34% signal and breaks up intermitantly
CH4 No reception( got fair with analog)
Ch 2 and 9 No reception. Got 9 perfect with analog. Neber got 2 in San Mateo.

The question is Are all these channels now broadcasting in digital? The guy at Radio Shack speculated that the reception would be better after May of next year due to amping up of signals. True?

Default digital TV in SF Bay Area

If you go to Google and search antenna web and look around a bit you will find that all the channels you listed have digital transmissions of one type or another.

This web site also tells you what type antenna and so forth for you location. There are also other similar sites.

So, all are broadcasting in digital. To answer your other question, it is possible. The logic behind it is that once analog signals are turned off, there will be less digital interference. On top of that, the stations may be given more power, since they won't compete with their analog transmissions.

It could be an antenna problem that could be interfering with your ability to recieve the signals, or , seeing as this is the DirecTV forum, you might be having a problem with your cable wire being connected from the antenna to the reciever.

Note: This is the wrong forum for this question. If the question relates to DirecTV or its service, it belongs here. Your question is more of a digital reception question, which could go in the local OTA reception forum. Not meaning to be rude by this, just some advice.
