Default HR20 700 Won't Record ONE Certain Show?

I am very puzzled to say the least.
My HR20 700 has worked excellent since it was installed a year ago. But all of the sudden the last 3 weeks it will NOT record the Wednsday nite American Idol

I thought I figured it out after last week it did not record, because we have been recording the "Moment of Truth" wich comes on the same channel before AI & my daughter had it set to record two minutes over, so I changed that & set the recording to end at 9PM est. So tonite I just happen to look down at the DVR about 9:10 & seen American Idol was not recording again.

We have it set to record the SERIES of American Idol & have no trouble getting Tuesday's show recorded but even though it shows on the guide it is going to record AI on Wednsday nite it doesn't.

I use this DVR every day & nite & have no problems but this. Also nothing else is set to record at the same time. So I am really baffled here can someone please help?

Thanks for Reading & Any Help

There are many reports about the problems recording American Idol. It seems to be tied up with Fox changing the guide data at the last minute so the DVR thinks it is not the correct program, but no-one is exactly sure.

Is the Series Link is setup to record "First Run" or "Both"? Sometimes the First Run/Repeat flags are not setup in the guides.

I'm not sure, but I set mine to record series and it always records both nights. I have the HR21.

It is set up to record "BOTH"

Also I just noticed that it shows Idol beginning to record at 8:58 instead of 9PM but I looked & we don't have it shceduled to record 2 minutes early it is set up to start ON TIME.

I have the same issue, and it's because I also record Moment of Truth. Since, for some reason, AI is set to start at 8:58 with no start time change on my part, they overlap, so the DVR can not record them both. Fortunately, I have AI set to record on both DVRS and MOT on one so it is pretty much a non-issue for me. Last night was the last MOT so you should be good next week.

Huh? They are on the same channel, how can they overlap? Why can't they both be recorded, when one ends, the other begins? Somehow that does not make sense.

you know they are on the same channel, but your DVR doesn't...

I just assume that is the reason. If you go to your history, it should show that it was cancelled because of an "unexpected error." My $$$ says it will record fine this week because MOT is done and assuming you don't record whatever comes before AI.

I believe MOT has it's finale this week then it will be over. And yes it has to do something with the overlap I would think.

You're right, but they had been advertising it as the "season finale", but never mentioned it was a 2-parter until the episode aired, which I just finally watched yesterday....
