I just received my new hr21-700 and it is awesome looking. Anyway when setting it up should the native be off or on? And what does native mean. Thanks

It's up to you! Native just means that whatever the box receives (1080, 720, 480) is passed on to your TV and your TV will handle any conversions.
If your TV does well, you may want to let it handle the conversions, if not, set the box to handle it. Also, some people don't like the delay/flash that may occur when the TV changes to accept the new resolution. Again, it is up to you to decide what is acceptable.

The reason I asked because this receiver is a replacement reciever and this one I set up or at least I tried. When the tech. set it up the res. lihgt on the front of the box always stayed on 1080i. But today when I recieved the replacement receiver I guess I didn't do something right because the res. light never moved off of 480p. I could'nt figure out how he made it stay on 1080i. Maybe somebody can help me out here. I have all the 480i,480p,720p, and 1080i checked marked. It doesen't move off of 480p unless I have native on. Then like you said it bounces back and forth which I don't like neither but I didn't want it to say on 480p neither. What next? Thanks

Menu; Help and Settings; Setup; HDTV; TV Resolutions
You can scroll over to TV resolutions from the main page that opens up and change which resolutions you want. |

I have all those checked marked. Just wondering why the blue light never comes off of 480p. Didn't know if it was something else in the settings.

If Native is turned off then you probably have the box to 480p. On the upper left of the remote there is a big button and under it is a smaller button. Press the smaller button until the resolution is set to 1080i.
Also it would be a good idea to go back to settings>resolutions and uncheck the 480i setting. Some tv's don't support it. |
