Default New Prices Effective Feb. 27, 2008

This should be sticky!

Here is the break down of the new prices:

Enjoy!

Overview

• New prices start Feb 27, 2008. See Package/Pricing List for details.
o Existing customers see new prices on their Bill Cycle Day on/after Feb 27.
• Customer notification begins Jan 25, 2008.
• Courtesy Credits for up to 6 months automatically applied, if eligible.
o Price Guaranteed Credits for up to 12 months automatically applied, if eligible, for customers with select packages in National Offers only: Q4 2006, Q1-Q4 2007.

Customer Notification

All customers receive new pricing notification 30 days before their prices change. New pricing begins on customer’s Bill Cycle Day on/after Feb 27, 2008.
• Customers receive new pricing notification by one of the following methods: (1) mailer inserted in January/February bill, (2) mailer sent by regular mail, (3) e-mail, which links customers to an online notification (e-mail sent only if we have valid e-mail on file).

Courtesy Credits

• Complete details about "Courtesy Credits" and "Price Guaranteed Credits" will be available closer to Feb 27, 2008.
• If eligible, credits are applied automatically on customer's Bill Cycle Day after Feb 27.

Courtesy Credits

• New customers who activated with select base packages Sep 27, 2007 - Feb 26, 2008 may receive "Courtesy Credits" for up to 6 months to offset the cost of new prices.
o Courtesy Credits are simply a courtesy for customers who recently activated service with us.

Courtesy Credits

• If a new customer started with a national promotional 12 month offer, we will honor their current base package price for the remainder of their 12 month promotional offer period. (Monthly credit offsets cost of new package price.)
o Select packages in National Offers only: Q4 2006, Q1-Q4 2007.

Oh well, at least I don't have to give up my old Total Choice Plus package (yet).

Default Wow, can you say greed?

This is bullshit. D* is great and all, but it's getting too expensive. Now I know that a couple dollars more isn't that much of a difference, but when will it stop? Yes, new satellites are expensive, and yes broadcasting more and any HD programming for that matter is costly. Gaining thousands more customers over the last few months should have escalated profits to a point that another price increase shouldn't be necessary. This greed is getting out of hand. Seeing that the Premier Pack went over $100 definitely draws the line for me. I love my DirecTV but I am going to start looking elsewhere. I can get Dish, Comcast, or Fios and I choose to support D*. Now, they're just pushing me away. Anyone agree with me or are you all just willing to give your hard earned money away?

Sure hope you're not one of those greedy employees who want a pay increase each year to meet your expenses. Maybe if your company ships your job overseas they won't have to raise their prices.

mcbeevee, I really hope they don't ever do that at this point. Of course they can if they want as we know at this point that they can pretty much do as they choose. But to let us keep our old package for several years and then yank it away...that would be so wrong.

Yea, I still have this package as well. What is the difference between this package and the currant ones? When I go HD will I loose this package? Are the new packages better? Is it the same as Plus HD/DVR?

I will stay with Directv another year. It is still cheap entertainment compared to other things.

There's always bowling if this gets too expensive.

Should have known that Sgt. Slaughter would be the first to fire away. I'm in the military so my company does ship my job overseas, usually every 15 months, you sarcastic prick. You served in the Air Force, so you should know what that's about. You thrive on negativity man. Sometimes its funny but sometimes it just gets old.

Negativity is when everyone comes here to moan about a price increase. Every business in the world increases it's prices. They have to periodically. The nice thing is that they never put a gun to anyone's head and make them pay it. Complaining about a rate increase here won't change a thing. If folks would cancel their account when they are unhappy, they would probably feel happier in the long run. Not having to pay the bill each month and being reminded of how you're being screwed has got to be a breath of fresh air.

PS. Thanks for your service to our country.

You're welcome Sir. And you raise a good point. Yeah, they don't "put a gun to anyone's head a make them pay" but they put you in a 12 month commitment, and I think they should be committed to maintaining consistency. Screw it I guess. I won't bitch anymore.

It's not 12 months anymore! Standard ird is 18 months and advance equipment 24.

Oh, I stand corrected. Not cool D*. Not cool at all. Oh well, I'll keep being a sucker and paying you every month. HD is like crack to me. I'm addicted! I have 4 HD providers to choose from and I pay D* every month. I just hope D* keeps on getting better so the price increases are validated and doesn't dip below the "worth it" line.
