Default Direct TV Installation Question

Hello All,

I am getting Direct TV installed at my apartment (Sunnyvale, CA) later this week and the management does not allow the dish to be installed on the property. I looked through the archives for tripods and I see many recommending the 3' tripod from RadioShack. I looked through the RadioShack website, but couldn't find it though (maybe it's available from the store).

If I do get a tripod, how much does a typical custom installation cost ?? If I do not get the tripod and ask the installation agency to get one, how much would that cost ?? Any info on the installation and other alternatives for the tripod (other stores, other models etc) are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for having a great forum and answering most of my questions already.

Cheers,
Rincewind

In case if anyone is following the thread :

I bought the tripod from Radioshack - just ask for the DirectTV tripod and they get it for you. One also needs a steel pipe which Radioshack did not have at that time. Apparently, the dish and direct dish antennas require pipes of different sizes and they didn't have the direct tv pipe. I was told that the installation technician would have one.

The technician from Connect Television came on time, but didn't have a pipe. However, he offered to break open a tripod set that he had and got a pipe out. I promised him a replacement, hunted one down at the second home depot I went to, got a 10-ft pipe cut, came in late to see the technician out already after doing a good job.

To cut the too-long story long, Direct TV is on at home (32" Sharp Aquos) and am loving it. The home team sucked today, but the football on Fox HD was awesome :-).

Thanks,
Rincewind
