Default Will you buy DirecTV's HD Extra pack?

Even though many don't like it, will you pay to receive DirecTV's HD Extra package so that you can continue receiving the HD-only channels ... like Music HD, HD Net, Smithonian HD, etc.

That one option should read, "Yes, but I won't like paying the extra money." Don't know how to edit a poll question on this board.

This topic will probably continue to popup every other day around here for a while, so...let's see what the majority of visitors to this forum will do about the HD Extra package.

The only strange thing is that some people seem to think it's 40+ channels and not only 6 Commercial channels.

This topic really needs a poll. Good call.

I wish the OP set the poll to close in January since additional channels will be added during December.

That's the biggest spin/distortion of a clear statement to discount soneone else I've ever witnessed. You work for MoveOn.org?

Seems pretty clearly stated to me. Note the useage and placement of the word "additional".

an additional 6 to get 40 is not the same as "an additional 40". Geeeez......

For me it depends on which channels are added to the tier. No, I wouldn't pay extra for those six. The only one that matters to me is Smithsonian and $5 for one channel isn't going to get me to do it. If they add more that are meaningful to me, then I'll order it. I think they are making a big mistake with this. An overall price increase of $5 would be the way to go. Obviously, I would pay that. But a $5 "discount" for giving up Smithsonian makes sense to me. I think an overall price increase would actually net them more money. But what do I know?

I don't think we should even count MHD. Once MTV, CMT and VH-1 go HD who would need MHD? All of the programming on MHD comes from those stations

I think we already pay too much for D* service. However, the law of supply & demand will prevail here. If enough people are willing to pay for the "extra pack", D* will continue to charge for it. Just seems like one more way to squeeze out another $5 from us HD junkies.
