But now that Universal HD has commericials (and a lot of them) I find it less desirable.

I started watching more Blurays. More Netflix steaming from my Xbox (gee I love this thing) and renting HD movies on my Vudu box.

I downgraded my package for Directv from everything down to the 59 dollar a month with HD. I must say I do not miss anything.
I did the same thing. i have this pack with TWC no need for a Double Dip. then after I did that I notice they offered it with the 1st 3 months free so signed up again. I will drop it before the 3 months ends. Now I have to figure what to do with the HBO/SHO/Star 3 months free thing.

No because if you ask for a free hd extra pack they can't set it up for 3 mo free afterward just call and ask again but really is good programing.

That one option should read, "Yes, but I won't like paying the extra money." Don't know how to edit a poll question on this board.
Everyone should refuse it!

I would love to be able to refuse it, but I can't go back to TWC.

I have voted for their original HD channel package for about 4 to 5 years, and 74-channel Universal HD channel and 78-Hdnet Films were part of that package, but now these two channels are not included and should I pay extra for these channels as part of their "HD Extra Pack." It is BS At least, people who previously had these channels should be grandfathered and not have to pay for these extra channels.

I'm getting MHD, Smithsonian, etc., for free. I'm paying the $4.99 for the extra 80 channels.

Blah Blah Blah, it has been this way since before you signed up so stop whining and move on with life.

This is not new. There have been channels in the HD Extra Pack for $4.99/month for over 2 years now. File away, you won't get anywhere. All providers offer stuff for free for 6 months or so after you first sign up. This is not Directv specific.
