Default Credit Check for DTV Service

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows how strict DTV is when they check your Credit Score for Dtv Service. I know that Comcast and Dish do check for scores also. Also I recently signed up for AtT Uverse and they checked my score and I didn't have to leave a deposit for only my internet. Also Dish told me that I couldn't have the free Hd-DVR without a big deposit. Comcast on the other hand, was the easist of all 3 to get thier service with the 3 in one combo package a couple of years ago.

At this time I have no service since my cancellation with Comcast. I am looking to go back to DTV once again and go with the all HD Package and H20 Receiver no exceptions. If i can't get the service, then i'd rather have nothing.

What do you guys think the Ideal score is to get service and the H20 receiver from Dish? Also what Credit Bereau due they pull the report from?

Thanks
TS

I don't think anyone on here would know the answer to your questions.

However, Im quite certain people with bad credit get Dish N and DTV all the time. If you have to pay a deposit, you have to pay a deposit. Thats why we have credit reporting. They are not giving you something for free if you have shown in the past you may not pay.

As long as you bill to a credit card I don't see what the problem would be. As long as the CC approves the charges, that's all that matters. IF they are like cable companies that send you a bill, then they would care as they rely on you being credit-worthy enough to pay on time. As long as the CC accepts the charge - It's go time!!!

They DO check your credit though. I see credit reports all the time, and they indicate past checks. DTV is on a lot of them.

It's a cinch you don't know how the credit card business works behind the scenes.

I'm the guy who had to ask his niece to co-sign a loan for a pack of cigarettes, and they actually told me my credit was good enough to sign up with no deposit, so don't sweat the "credit check".

I just got a credit report from Transunion a few days ago, and there were no inquiries from D* on there. (I started service a couple months ago, and the report goes back farther than that)

If your credit cards catch fire every time you pull them from your wallet, you still have better credit than me, and as I said above, I got approved with no problem and was even told my credit was fine. I can't imagine how bad your credit has to be for them to charge you a $300 deposit.

In sales I would say about 25% of the people who call either do or would fail the credit check. Let me just say I groan any time I get a call from the deep south. I'm not sure what the cutoff score is since it is only approved/not approved, but we guess it's around 500. Basically, if you don't pass the credit check then the fee definitely should apply to you. Direct keeps the remainder of the unreturned fee if you disconnect before 40/60 months. If you can't pay your bills then you shouldn't get free installation.

Mainly, people who fail the check are complete deadbeats who don't pay their bills, or people with NO credit. People who are asked to pay the fee ought to understand why they're being asked to do so.

What they are mainly checking for is previous accounts that you did not pay on.
