Dish charges you $20 for fewer channels and you do not have the option to buy HD only channels for a few bucks extra (although they do have the Voom channels if you like that option). Direct charges $10 for the HD versions of the SD channels and $5 for the HD only channels (which you don't have to buy). So, you can pay $10 for fewer HD channels (which is still more than Dish) or $15 for all the HD channels in your package (which is a lot more than Dish has and is continuing to rise). Which options would you rather have? All in all, there really isn't much to complain about. I didn't even mention local cable companies which on the average are even worse.

He must have just got Swanni's newsletter as that was a headline today. Old news of course but now "SWANNI SAYS IT'S SO"!!!

Still cheaper than cable for me. While cable does not have an HD tier, when you factor in dvr fees & STB rental (7.95 STB & 12.95 DVR for me) compared to D*'s flat 1-occurance 5.99 dvr for all & 4.95 lease per STB, its a good deal. Comcast's platinum is more than $99 here as well.

Before we had 10 HD channels for $10. So for an extra $5, we get 90 more HD channels. I think that's cheap. Besides, neither cable nor Dish will have close to 100 HD channels to offer, so it's really a great deal no matter how you look at it.

How so? Let me hear your spin that says it is not 70; then I will explain the fact (non-spin) to demonstrate how it actually is 70.

If he isn't then he doesn't realize that we have the option to watch each RSN in HD 24/7 with our various sports packages. They definitely do count as national HD channels available to all.

My point is:
They want $15 for what I have now for $10.
They are removing HDNet from my existing HD package,
and I don’t really care about new 50/70 junky SD/HD channels except a few.

Hey, holtzd

With your “System” you don’t need HD anyway.

No...They want $5 for what you now have for $10. Those extra channels are the original 10 channels which you always paid 10 buck for. Now you will have to pay $5 for them.
