Sweeney and Varitek wear the C. As do quite a few of other athletes. It's an honor, he was asked to wear it, he accepted it.

Apparantly you don't watch the NFL or NHL and notice all the captains wearing the C.

Jeter should have an "A" for actor. Everyone remembers his "act" of diving in the 3rd base crowd a few years ago when replays showed over and over prove he purposely picked up speed after he caught the ball then leaped into the crowd. He took 3 full steps.. haha.
