Hello, our 2 installers just left about an hour ago. They installed a 5LNB slimline dish, 3 standard receivers and an HD DVR. ON the HD DVR, we cannot get ANY of the newer HD channels, other than the older ones like ESPN/ESPN2 HD, etc. We cannot get the ones such as weather channel HD, TLC HD/APL HD/SciFiHD/Cartoon Network HD..and the list goes on. We get a blank gray screen that says Searching for signal 771.
The signal strength on all sats and transponders is in the 90s EXCEPT for 99(b) transponders in order 1-6 are 98-97-0-98-99% 103(a) transponders in order 1-6 81-33-0-69-80-0 and #17 is 0% 103(b) ALL Transponders are 0% Anyone have any ideas? What should I do? |

Call DTV, and have them come back and fix it. The HD channels come off the 103b satellite. No signal, no channels.

Not to be rude, but it was your responsibility to make sure that EVERYTHING was working properly before the installers left. And in your defense, the installer should have done the same; but a good percentage of them are careless and dumb, to say the least. The smartest move for you is to call DirecTV and tell them your problem, tell them that everything was fine and now it's not. Tell them you want an installer at your place ASAP or you're going to cancel.

It doesn't seem like your satellite is misaligned. Usually you will get some readings. Even if it is way off and the other satellites come in, you should still get something above zero. All zeros indicate something else. |

I had the same problem. Called CSR and found out my account did not get changed to the new HD programming. I was told that is the first thing they are supposed to check when installer calls in. I had HD before all the new channels but they apparently changed the name.
My signal strength would be nothing one minute full the next and sometimes every other transponder. CSR changed billing name and fixed everything. Last edited by alkaren1967; 10-16-2007 at 08:58 PM. |

I have the same issue, the first two weeks everything worked great, the last two I've only received select HP stations (ESPN, 2) occasionally I'll get a few others. I was told by one tech that I needed the black B-Band converters (instead of the supplied gray, got em, nothing changed), finally a new tech came out and determined that I had a back receiver, I'll get the new one via FedX tomorrow (hopefully this will correct my problem). What a hassle, I've missed most of the MLB playoffs in HD (D* has given me a months credit for the inconvenience plus gave me free HD for a year).

How may Coax lines do you have coming from your dish? If you have more than 4, then you need a multi-switch.
