Default OTA with HR20, fries the box??

Just got my HR20 installed today and the tech installing it told me not to connect the OTA antenna because it'll "fry" the receiver. To me, this sounds like complete BS. Anyone have any knowledge on the subject, or running the HR20 with the OTA antenna just fine?

Why would there be an OTA connection if it "fried" the box? Again, I think it's not true, but...I want to get confirmation before I connect it. Just in case...

Never mind, I just found this link on the site:

I assume it's because the ATSC tuner hasn't been turned on yet and a "future" software upgrade will take care of this.

I guess it wasn't BS after all.

not true, just route it through a different box (vcr or dvd) and then to the D* box and you will be fine. I actually have a splitter on my OTA. one goes to the tv, the other to the D* box...but what do I know...

When the HR20 was released in Oct-2006, the ATSC tuner was not active, but it was activated in Dec-2006. Connecting an antenna to the OTA input will not fry the box...unless the antenna is struck by lightning!
