So much for hoping to get HD for the same price as before. Looks like it will take Premium package + $9.99 for HD access + $4.99 for the HD only channnels to get 'em all. I counted 29 additional channels for Choice and 37 for Choice+. No HD only package is offered. Looks like all save the Premium HD's to be available until Dec. 15. At least that gives us some time to see how many we really want. I saw the 4 Starz HD channels coming and thought $12.00 for Starz with 4 HD channels was a good deal, so I jumped in for that. Lastly, I'm not surprised they divied up the HD channels with different packages. Gotta pay for the sats somehow I guess.

1) Sept. 19 HD Channel Launch Date Q&A
2) D*'s own website 3) And posts I've been reading for the last few weeks. It is clear there will be different numbers of HD channesl based on your current (or future) D* package.

For the 9.99 that I would assume you're currently paying, you will keep you're existing HD, plus add anything broadcast in HD that you currently have in SD.
For 4.99 you can add HD-only stations, for which I can't find a list. Smithsonian is the only speculation I've seen. Seems reasonable to me. All HBO's, ESPN, and local network are really all I need, and I have that now. EDIT: Wife would very much like SOAP channel to go HD. All I can say is PLEASE no.... |

Its always been this way. Think about it for a sec, do you get HBO in HD without buying HBO? I cant see how we would make any money giving someone the family package and then giving them everything they dont get in normal digital in HD that just would not work lol.
Just went through another HD training program tonight then got some green time so if you have questions let me know. |

I have seen in other posts in another forum, that the extra charge for the H/D extra
channels(those that will not be simulcast), will be free for everyone until Dec. 15th at which time it will be charged to all(no grandfathering)...I hope this is not true! HDNet, HDNet Movies, and Universal HD will be a part of the pack, along with MHD, Smithsonian HD, and MGM HD. |

I do not think any reasonable person can expect D* to launch two new sats, add a ton of HD channels and not get some added revenue for a return on their investment. As for me...I will gladly pay a reasonable fee. Profit is not a dirty word.

Dang, we have two DTV employees who can't agree, but we are use to that having dealt with customer service all these years.
