I think what he means is you can't use the stand alone Tivo for DirecTV anymore. Which is true.

You can only use the really old stand alone's, or the Tivo DTV boxes themselves. You can't go out and purchase a HD Tivo stand alone and have it work for DirecTV.

Well I dont send people to E bay for receivers EVER but I was talking to a guy that said he found a authorized dealer there that had a large inventory of DTV tivo boxes, just be careful with buying from people that arnt authorized dealers it will turn into a headache.

I have a Tivo Series 3 and a Directv HR20 and use both. I used to have a Directivo. Tivo has the better interface for sure but the HR20 isn't that bad at all, especially compared to a lousy Scientific Atlanta cable DVR SA-8300. If the HR20 had the 30 second skip button that tivo has it would be much better

Most other providers charge per box.
Whoa, big guy! You're being way too sensitive. Since D* didn't ask what features its customers (at least this customer) appreciated with TiVO I was just adding my preferences. Like said before it seems like D* could back engineer the conveniences TiVO offered and even improved on them.

Just saying, most times all I hear is complaining about things people dont understand. The cost of there services got so high DTV would have had to rase the price on the service, they felt that was not expectable spent loads of money and developed the dvr service and now provide it for half of what tivo would have cost you had they stuck with them, its not perfect but its still the best value you can get from a DVR

No arguement here. Sometimes a little communication from DTV with its customers might eliminate some of the lack of understanding. Thanks.

eBay is a great place for receivers. Buy off someone with a high feedback rating and there's nothing to worry about.

You can also ask to check the s/n to make sure the box (if used) doesn't carry a bill balance.

If you buy new, DTV will warranty it if it's never been activated. I've done this several times.

Just because they do it doesnít mean they should per policy, I always ask my friend Doris because she knows everything about DTV.

I purchased my first DirecTV DVR with TiVo when they were first available in the fall of 2000. I retired my two HR10-250 DirecTV HD DVR's with TiVo early this year. I would have preferred to continue to use TiVo but I suspect the blame for the end of the DirecTV/TiVo relationship was the proper business decision and I believe TiVo was to blame, it was no longer cost effective. My two HR20-700 DirecTV HD DVR's are working great and I can live without TiVo. I never complain about business decisions and if the DirecTV DVR's hadn't worked this well, I would have moved on to another service.
