Default Missing my Comcast DVR

Well, I made the switched and finally after almost 2 weeks I got my satellite installed. Supposed to have been installed and activated on Tues. and well I be dang if its now Friday before it got done. Anyway, I didnt realize how much I used my DVR with Comcast. Im actually missing it and considering calling DIrect back and telling them I dont want it anymore. Only reason I got it was for Sunday TIcket in HD. But i DANG sure aint gonna pay 100 or 200 for a DVR. Thats just insane considering its their equipment. Never had to pay for mine with Comcast. Any suggestions?

Did you have an option of a regular HD receiver or dvr?See if you can be upgraded to the HD dvr.

When we talked and all he told me to that the HD DVR would cost 200. Aint happen captain. Especially when I had one from Comcast no cost to me.

Well, only you can put the value on the DVR. Obviously you haven't missed your Comcast DVR 100 bucks worth yet so not having it will probably pass for you in the very near future.

I had 3 comcast DVR's when i used to have them. I switched to Dish Network Last year. Got the DVR from them. As far as DVR's go......satelitte DVR's are nothing like Comcast DVR's. I switched recently to Directv and passed on getting a DVR.

For example:

You can record 2 shows on both. You still have to watch either one if you are recording 2 shows. This always came in handy when HBO/Showtime both had boxing on at the same time.

Difference:

With Satellite DVR I had to wait for both channels to finish recodring before i could fast forward or rewind either of them.

With Comcast DVR and I could switch back and forth while they were still recording live and rewind or fast forward either recording.

Comcast DVR > Satellite DVR in my opinion

but

Satellite programming and price >>>>>>>>>>> Comcasts lineup

You gotta choose........better programming, better HD, better sports, better price with DTV or free DVR with Comcast

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are saying, you can do this with the D* dvr.

Obviously yall are misunderstanding me. Its not necessarily the COMCAST dvr I'm missing. I stritcly missing HAVING an HD DVR. To pause and rewind and such. I'm not paying for an HD DVR like they want me too. I think that is just rediculous when Comcast didnt make me pay for theirs. WHich I was fixing to turn in and have turned off when DTV got here. But it looks like I may be goin back to Comcast if I cant get an HD DVR without paying for it upfront. I mean thats just crazy.

You pay up front with D*, but you pay more a month with Comcast.

AND Comcast charges $7/month for their "FCC/Franchise/PEG" fee. A fee D* doesn't charge at all.

So you have to add it up over the two years. Comcast DOES charge you for the hardware, they just hide the cost elsewhere.

Do you understand that Direct distributes equipment nationally, and Comcast just locally? Also, Direct's box is normally better built and stores more programming. Direct also gives you an HDMI cable included with the receiver (most people don't know that) and there are more ports and functions on the Direct box. I've spoken with many a Comcast employee who has called their HD-DVR a "junk" box.

But hey, pinch pennies if you want. I ponied up myself for the HD-DVR and I'm about to enjoy all the new HD channels

Comcast is probably the biggest cable TV provider in the United States......i had them on the west coast, east coast, south and midwest.

Fact is.... as good as Satellite is over cable.......cable will never ever go away. Directv has the sports packages and soon to be best HD lineup offered....not to mention cheaper prices.

Cable companies have a little necessity called cable modem. If i had to choose my modem or satellite it would virtually be a no brainer......goodbye Sat. Anyone saying DSL is good enough is lying to themselves to sleep better having a second tier service. Only thing better so far is Fios........but in 10 years that service still wont be deployed throughout the United States........just hope you in a area lucky enough to get it.

I pay an extra 15 a month for my cable modem cause i decided i wanted a better TV package with Directv. Cable companies will get there money one way or another!!!
