If you have the Lifetime DVR service you will keep it until you change your programming package to one that includes DVR service(say choice plus DVR).
If you then, sometime in the future decide to change your programming package to one that doesnt include DVR service but want to keep your DVR active(say you upgrade to Premier) then you will have to subscribe to it. Your lifetime subscription will be void. At least thats what was posted on DBS and satguys. If you are ever Grandfathered into anything and want to keep it its best not to make changes. |

Question:
On the H10's, will the DVR work with OTA tuner if it is not connected to a DirectTV antenna system? |

... in essence, is there still any future use for the HR10-250 Tivo DVRs flooding ebay right now once they can no longer get DirectTV HD?

I upgraded this week to the HR-21 and moved the HR10-250 to the bedroom where it's doing great. I disconnected an older SD Tivo in a different room to stay a 4 DVR house. The new additional MPG4 channels was not motivation enough to upgrade. I could live without HD weather channel for a long time. My need for an HD DVR in the bedroom was the main motivation. The $0 cost, including installation and delivery, plus continuing to honor my lifetime DVR service was also motivating. The HR10-250 will not be worth much if your OTA's are not available or when they phase out the MP2 channels. No one seems to know when that will happen. |

This forum is amazing. After reading posts on this thread I contacted D* and was told it was a $199 upgrade. After a bit of back and forth I had them check with a supervisor who provided a over ride code so the upgrade cost me $0!! The service rep said he never heard of this over ride before. Thanks to the people on here who share info!

I had been quoted $299 a month ago and didn't have time to mess with it at the time. Spent some time researching and found this forum's great information / advice.
Called this morning, informed the operator of the problems many people had regarding their upgrades and asked about keeping the 10-250. She said it would be no problem and set me up for an installation within 3 days. The operator was very pleasant and professional. While processing my order, she had to do an "Escalation" because she had reached her credit limit with customers. After clicking away for a few more minutes she came back and said I would receive a credit for $367.95. Painless, no additional charge for the new unit or installation and no additional charges per month to have both HD receivers. Good deal... Note: I have been a PREMIER subscriber for two years, perhaps that helped. |

Is a B Band Converter Module helpful and/or necessary with a HR10-250?
Thanks! |

Nah...It snows here about once a year! Plus, I'm too mean looking for any Pats or Bills fans to even THINK about chuckin' it my way!
