Default OTA reception with an H20

I've just upgraded to 4, H20 Hi Def receivers. Yesterday, we had
a severe afternoon thunderstorm and the Satellite was unaccessable
(searching for satellite) for over 30 minutes. My OTA antenna is connected to that H20 receiver. But when I punched in a local OTA channel, I still got the "searching for satellite signal" message and could not get any of the OTA channels.

I unplugged the OTA antenna from the H20, and plugged it into the
TV set, and shazzam....local reception. This step seems unecessary
and time consuming.

Am I missing something here, or have I hooked up the OTA incorrectly?

I would say you need to go thru the OTA set up again on the H20.

Will the OTA signal pass thru, even if the H20 is turned off?

Thanks deadhead68. What exactly should I be looking for when re-running setup?

I thought I read here or somewhere that there were issues with OTA
antennas with the H20's.

I haven't had D* for a year and a half. And when I did, I used the HR10-250 with OTA. I just remember in the setup menu was an option to have the HR10-250 scan for OTA channels and they integrated into the guide.

If the H20 is turned off, it's not passing anything to your TV.

With the H20 turned ON, and in a rain storm where you get the "searching for satellite" message, I am unable to select an OTA channel.
The H20 ignores the remote control selection of an OTA channel.
That is the problem in a nutshell.

I have the H20 as well, but my locals HD OTA come in better when I use the HD tuner within my JVC HD set. I find that my H20 doesn't hold a signal well. The signal will range from 80 and then inexplicably go to zero for a few seconds and then back to 80. It drove me crazy because I could never watch an entire program. Then I decided to hook my antenna directly into the tv and it holds the signal much better.

I seem to remember encountering this problem once, and if memory serves me, you have to use the channel up/down button or select the channel through the guide. I remember not being able to enter a channel number directly.
