Other than that, they are pretty much the same. By the way, the 100s is a silver skin.

The main difference is who manufacutred the machine. That is what defines 100 or 700.

Have fun. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I have a 100 and it's black, not silver.

There is a small majoprity of customers who get these because the D* warehouses in specific cities still have them and they install whatever they have in the warehouse. For instance if that receiver ends up needing replaced, I can guarantee you that you'll get a hr20-700. Also another difference is that the Satellite 1 and 2 inputs are vertical on the the hr20-100 and horizontal on the hr20-700

My first unit about 1 1/2 years ago was a 700, when they first came out, my next replacement was another 700, my last replacement was a 100. I don't know if that makes one newer than the other but thats how i got them.

How do you access music from your PC? I have my ethernet cable hooked up to my modem, would I need to run another cable to my PC? Would like to be able to have access to my mp3's..

Default Receiver Upgraded to DVR this weekend

I have been with D* for about 14 years. I just got a free DVR (leased) to replace a receiver (owned). I received a refurb HR20-700. The DVR I got 2-1/2 years ago was also an HR20-700. I believe it was one of the very early ones with MANY software bugs. It took several months to work them out.

I was hoping for an HR22 with a larger hard drive. Is the eSata port active on the HR20-700? The technician told me there was an HR23 coming out and that only the HR20's had OTA tuners. I thought I read where the HR22 had OTA input/tuner. I do not completely trust the technician's knowledge. He seemed a bit green.

For now I will not complain. FREE is a pretty good price.

The HR 23 has been out for some time time now. I have an old HR 20 and it still works fine, except for the VOD function which I don't need anyway. Yes the eSATA is active, I added an external hard drive to mine It's easy to do. External hard drive can be up to 2 TB, even 750 GB will give you far more capacity than the new HR 23.
