What is HD?

Hello -
I'm located in Chicago (60622) and have a 5LNB dish and the H20 D* receiver. I have an OTA connected to the H20 to receive local HD programming, but cannot use the OTA signal for CBS (channel 2) due to a nearby building (the CBS local transmitter is located different from the rest of the local HD stations' transmitters) and all of the local HD channels coming over D* have a very poor signal (SD versions of these same channels is fine). I have tried rebooting the receiver a few times, and have looked at the signal meters, etc. for the 101, 110, and 119 satellites - I'm fairly certain the problem is not a high enough signal coming through for the HD satellite, but I'm not sure which satellite broadcasts the local HD channels. I can get to the dish and am close enough to use a SD receiver to monitor the signal strength for the appropriate satellite/transponder to try to max out the signal. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

You may want to call D* and complain and have them send someone out for free to check it out.

your locals come from 103 or 99 degree satellites. In general it's harder to achieve the peak signal form Ka satellites due it's nature, but mainly it can be fixed by fine tunning your dish. there is a chance that your installer did poor job on aligning the dish so call them up. someone should be responsible for bad job.
