Default Future Launch of D*'s HD Satellites May Be Delayed

Not good news for the future launch of D*'s new satellites. Looks as if delays are probable.

Since Directv 10 is not launced from SeaLaunch, D* should not be able to use this as an excuse to slip all HD programming, Directv 10 is ground launched and should be on schedule, Directv 11 will slip. That means we get 75 HD stations instead of 150 .

Too bad there isn't 75 national HD stations in America.

Not really....if all of D*s future launches were dependant on SeaLaunch schedules, then yes, until sealaunch finds out what went wrong, there would probably be a delay. However, D* has spread
the launches out among several companies which includes ILS.
They are scheduled to launch Direct 10 a few months before Direct 11
with an option for a added launch. Both 10 & 11 are to add lots of
H/D for D*, but both are not needed yet since there are not that many channels in H/D yet!

You are, of course, right, I meant the comment as sarcasm, but it didn't come across. What we need is an emoticon that denotes sarcasm. My main point is that D* should not be allowed to use this disaster as an excuse for not delivering any new HD content.

Undoubtedly D* will find this as good excuese to raise prices.

Anyway I'm having my D* HD equipment installed on Friday.
I suppose it's no big deal seeing as the other posts are right in that there aren't 75 channels that broadcast in HD. But how about claiming your 150 channels of HD goodness after you actually have 150 channels of HD.

It maybe ground launched, but if it's the same rocket it doesn't matter, it will get delayed.

Since when does BET have a HD feed? I have listened to the DTV's commercials and other propaganda and at no time does it say it will have 150 HD channels. They slyly say that they will have the ABILITY to provide 150 HD channels, meaning they will have the space/bandwidth to provide up to that many HD channels with their new satellite launches.

per lyngsat, Directv 10 is ground launched using a Proton launcher, while Directv11 was to be sea platform launched from a Zenit 3. Two different modes of launch, two different rockets.

I reiterate that D* should not be allowed to use this disaster to renege on it's HD commitment totally. If it does this would seem to be a good argument for early cancellation of all HD related contracts due to D*'s failure to meet it's commitment.

Where have you been hiding ?
What kool aid have you been drinking ?

D* has NEVER said they will have 150 HD channels by the end of '07.
They said : they have the Capacity to have 150 channels.
I wish people would comprehend what they read and hear.

Nothing SLY about it, it's quite simple, they say they will have the capacity of 150 HD channels.
