Default Super Bowl in Hi Def rumor

Last year there was a rumor circulating that the entire country would receive the game in Hi Def. Being in a town where I get no locals on Direct TV, this was of great interest.

Did anyone else hear of this and is there a chance I will receive the game this year in Hi Def even though I live in a small town? Because I have a large Hi Def set, I host the game but it's always in low def.

Hopeful...

My guess is that you still need a HD source like an ATSC tuner/OTA antenna, QAM tuner for cable , or dish/cable HD STB with HD package/ locals . Without em, even with a HD TV it will only be SD...

Since not every market is broadcasting CBS in HD and not everyone has satellite, I doubt the game will be available in HD everywhere or watched in HD everywhere.

Do you not get cable?

The Game will be broadcast in HD – Just like it was last year – Only those that can receive it will see it that way. The local Cable Company here in our little town does not offer HD to its subscribers.

Any chance you live by the same nice lake as the OP?
