Default New Hd Dvr (help quick question)

Direct Tv installer came to install the new HD DVR (free )

he said he was gona have tok hook up a new big dish and that i wasnt gona be able to watch the channels from my OTA that direct tv installed a year ago. and the only local channels the HD DVR would have were 24.1 and 30.1 so i was gona lose my 26.1 and 47.1 my football channels i was like WTF

there was nothing i was gona do i thought i was gona get the old hd dvr for free but they sent the latest one but i didnt wana lost my channels so i cancelled . will direct tv still give me the same deal when new locals become availabe? is this even true that i couldnt hook up my OTA with the new hd dvr ?

if you have a hd tuner in your tv, not hd ready, you can hook up the off air antenna straight to your tv, that is what I have done just to get better pic quality, I dont have the new dvr, the h20 100 model

Yes, it is a known problem with the new HD-DVR that the OTA input is not functional.

Hopefully, a fix will come along. Until then, if you want OTA, you better keep the old HR10-250.

If you would read the other posts you would know...

"It is rumored that a software update will be released in October to make the OTA functional, but only D* knows the answer to your question"

D* only offers 2 channels for your locals ? Thats odd, unless they have contract issues.
You will get more channels off your OTA regardless, so keep your OTA , As mentioned D* is working on getting the OTA tuner turned on,I am awaiting this as well (as are all the others) then I can fully use my new HR20-700 the way I originally planned, but I was aware of the OTA situation when I purchased, so I knew waht to expect.

It's true...in Seattle, D* really does only offer CBS and NBC for local HD. Not sure why but it is the reason why i'm sticking with the HR10-250 for now.

lizardhowson, I had my install for the 700 for oct 9 until I found out about the ota issue. Now I have a date for the install at oct 23 so I will have to find out by someone here. If its not fixed by oct 20 I am postponing my install again.

Just as you are, I am waiting because I get about 12 stations via OTA, so I am not giving up my HR10-250 until the HR20-700 has a working OTA tuner.
