Default 5 lnb Satellite HD local channel question. please help

I am a current directv customer and have an h10 box, however I do not have an OTA antenna; I just haven't done it yet.

Directv is offering me an upgrade for only $19.95 and a 2 year commitment the following:

h20 box
5lnb satellite dish
4 months free of HD programming

If I decide to cancel the HD programming after the 4 months free, am I still able to get my local channels in HD with the 5lnb satellie? I guess my quesiton is does it also act as a OTA antenna as well? I hope this make sense?

or if I cancel the HD service, I get nothing and just am back to standard programming. I hope this make sense. Thanks alot.

Well, 1st thing to get your hd locals through the satellite will require you to subscribe to you sd locals. You will get no hd anything through the satellite if you cancel, you have to have an OTA outside or in you attic to receive your hd locals if you cancel the hd package. This is what I have read in the past you have to subscribe to something hd to get these other benefits. I just got the hd package well not alot of channels yet but I do enjoy anything in hd, trust me I flip between epsn and espn hd and you can tell alot of differnce. I feel they will add more channels once they work out the kinks with mpeg4 and we will probably get alot of them as part of our current package with no price increase since E* has a real good deal on their hd package right now and they keep increasing their channels. I would contact customer service and see if you could just get your local channels in hd without the hd package just to make sure so you don't waste time and money. Honestly the tuner on the receiver is excellent to pick up your hd locals. Go to antennaweb.org put in your address see how far you are from the towers and then go to radioshack. com and get you an antenna. My installer put the rf antenna on my ota connection on the back of my receiver and I am picking up all the hd stations and I am almost 15-20 miles away. The tuner is incredible.
Hope this helps.
